Kids Meals at McDonald's

En espa˝ol
McDonald's offers a range of menu options to help meet your family's nutrition needs. When it comes to eating with your kids at McDonald's, you can feel good knowing that our Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals contain important nutrients that growing kids need. Many of the foods we serve at McDonald's are the same trusted brands you might purchase for your family at your local grocery store.

Along with a well-balanced diet, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that children get at least 60 minutes of moderate physical activity, including active play, most days of the week. Unfortunately, many children fall short of this goal. At McDonald's, we strive to make our PlayPlaces a fun, safe environment for active play such as climbing, jumping, crawling, and running.

Fun Facts

- ''Circus Wagon,'' the first McDonald's Happy Meal, was introduced in 1979.
- Ronald McDonald wears a size 14 1/2 shoe or, as he likes to say, ''extra long, by extra wide, by extra red.''
Vitamin and Mineral Nutrition for Kids
Kids need a variety of vitamins and minerals every day to help them grow strong, play long, and learn better in school. Foods in McDonald's Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals can help supply many of these important nutrients.
  • Calcium helps form and maintain strong bones and teeth, and it aids in blood clotting, muscle movement, and nerve function. Foods that provide calcium include milk, cheese, some leafy green vegetables, and fortified fruit juice.
  • Iron is important for healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen in the blood. Foods that provide iron include beef, chicken, eggs, dried beans, nuts, green leafy vegetables, and whole-grain or enriched breads and cereals.
  • Vitamin A is important for vision and healthy skin. Foods that provide vitamin A include eggs, milk, dark green and deep yellow fruits and vegetables.
  • Vitamin C is necessary for wound healing, healthy teeth and gums, and it helps the body use iron from foods. Foods that provide vitamin C include citrus fruits, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and leafy greens.
